Being homeless sucks. But not everyone is in the situation for the same reasons. Nobody knows what’s down the road. The homeless who drink and do drugs and panhandle are the sterotype. They shouldn’t have the “right” to do that.

I don’t drink do drugs or have a record but I am in this situation. I don’t piss on peoples houses or panhandle.

Everyone has a different story. I didn’t get to grow up with mommy and daddy and get everything handed to me. I grew up in foster homes where i was beaten starved and abused. Not exactly conducive for a happy healtjhy life.

I believe they had a similar ordinance passed in Chicago not too long ago and it wound up getting tossed when the City was sued for violation of First Amendment rights. Asking for money is actually considered ‘free speech.’ So all you St Pete ambulance chaser take notice, ninja man has a CASE!

Casey, I know that it is extremely aggravating to read information stating that the city is against the homless. But what that story lacked is the information on all the hard work the city is investing in social programs for the homeless. Take Pinellas Hope, Homeless Connect and the “Give a Hand Up not a Hand Out” social campaign that is providing people information on homeless orgranizations to donate fund sto that are actively assisting the homeless eveyday in St. Petersburg. The city is working to help the homeless, but allowing panhandeling is not the way.
